Our goal isn’t to be alarmists or create fear and anxiety. However, we believe knowledge is power. We want women to live full and vibrant lives without the burden that hormonal disruptors can put on their vitality and longevity. We want to provide you with the resources to make informed decisions about where you spend your money and what you put into and on your body. Below is an ongoing list of resources to improve your awareness of what’s going on in the world of products and hormonal health. We’re sure that more information will always be coming out, companies change and adjust to the needs of consumers and science is ever evolving, but we can only act on what we know. We’ll try to keep you updated here and in our monthly emails. But for now, we do our best to make wise decisions from the information we know and trust that’s enough.

Newsworthy Stories and Research in Women Health
Heavy Metals in Tampons - In August, 2024 a study will be published in Environment International that showed concentrations of 16 heavy metals were found present in 30 different tampon samples.
Here are some highlights:
Heavy metals including lead and arsenic were found in all tampon samples including organic brands typically marketed as ‘safe alternatives’.
The vaginal mucosa is highly absorptive and so it is reasonable to assume that we are absorbing these metals to some degree through our vagina.
When chemicals are absorbed through the vaginal mucosa, they are absorbed directly into the blood stream and bypass the liver first detoxification process.
There is no ‘safe’ level of exposure to lead
The degree to which tampon use increases blood concentration levels of heavy metals needs more research.
Currently, alternatives to tampons may be BPA free menstrual discs and cups, although as with everything, we need more research.
Have some grace for yourself! There are a lot of ways our modern environment exposes us to heavy metals. It’s not our fault and we can’t be perfect. Support your detox pathways the best you and stay informed of the research as it comes out.
Asbestos in Makeup - Asbestos.com recently conducted a study to examine primarily children’s make up and test it for talc and asbestos. A surprising number of products came back positive for these chemicals. They have created a great resource to know which products are safe and which to avoid for you and your daughters, nieces and sisters.
BPA in Athletic clothing - Bisphenol A or BPA is a product we’ve known to be on the lookout for in products for several years ago. A lot of us have switched to glass tupperware and reusable aluminum water bottles in order to avoid exposure to this. However, new research suggests it might present in our sports clothes as well which we not only wear close to our major hormonal centers like breasts and groins, but we wear when we are sweating and have increased heart rates and blood circulation which may increase the risk of exposure. This article has some great tips to reduce exposure risk and help you stay alert.
Thinx Period Underwear Settlement - If you use period underwear you may have heard about the lawsuit filed against Thinx. If not, here is a great article detailing what happened and where the case is going from here.
